My Experience for 10 Things I Hate About You

I have to admit, I love the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. As a 20-something living in the 21st century, it has become somewhat of a classic. It’s got it all: teenage drama, forbidden love, and that iconic ’90s soundtrack.

The movie follows Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles) and her younger sister, Bianca (Larisa Oleynik). Although they are sisters, their personalities couldn’t be more different – Kat is an outspoken feminist and Bianca is a popular cheerleader. In order to let Bianca date, their father makes a deal with them – they both have to find someone before Bianca can have a boyfriend.

What ensues is a hilarious battle of wits between Kat and her would-be suitor, Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger). Their relationship is filled with plenty of laughs and poignant moments as the two learn to understand each other better. The movie also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cameron James, Kat’s friend who falls for Bianca; David Krumholtz as Michael Eckman, Cameron’s best friend; and Allison Janney as their no-nonsense school principal.
