My Experience for Open Range

Ray Cooley

I have been a fan of Open Range since I saw it in the theaters back in 2003. It was one of those rare movies that really resonated with me – not only because of the great acting from Robert Duvall, Kevin Costner and Annette Bening but also because of the superb story it told. Open Range is an American western film about a group of cowboys who are determined to defend their cattle herd against a ruthless rancher.

When I heard that Open Range was being released on DVD, I couldn’t wait to add it to my movie collection. After watching it for the umpteenth time, I can confidently say that Open Range is one of the best westerns ever made! The cast is absolutely fantastic, and the scenery is breathtaking.

The story follows two cowboys – Boss Spearman (Robert Duvall) and Charley Waite (Kevin Costner) – as they travel across the plains with their cattle herd in search of open range to graze on. Along the way, they face dangerous outlaws and corrupt local officials, as well as a mysterious woman named Sue Barlow (Annette Bening).

Overall, I highly recommend Open Range. Whether you’re a fan of westerns or just looking for something to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon, this movie has something for everyone. So grab yourself some popcorn and get ready for an unforgettable ride into the Wild West!

What I don’t Like

1.Slow pacing: Open Range is slow-paced with a runtime of 140 minutes, which may not appeal to some viewers.

2.Character development: Some viewers have complained that the characters in the movie are one-dimensional and lack sufficient development.

3.Graphic violence: The movie contains some graphic scenes of violence that may be unsuitable for younger audiences.

4.Limited appeal: The movie has limited appeal due to its western genre and slow pacing.

5.Outdated themes: The movie’s themes may appear outdated to some viewers due to its setting in the late 19th century.

How to Make a Western-Style BBQ with Open Range

When it comes to barbecues, nothing beats the classic western-style. With its delicious smoky flavor and tender texture, your guests will be sure to love this Open Range-inspired meal! Here’s how to make it:

  • Start by gathering your ingredients. You’ll need a good cut of meat (like beef or pork), some barbecue sauce, spices, and other sides like potato salad or corn on the cob.
  • Next, prepare your grill for cooking. Set up your charcoal grill or smoker and get it nice and hot.
  • Once the coals are ready, rub your chosen cut of meat with a blend of spices and Open Range. This will help infuse flavor into the meat as it cooks.
  • Place the meat on the grill over medium heat. Cook it until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (for beef) or 165°F (for pork).
  • When the meat is cooked through, brush it with barbecue sauce and let it cook for another few minutes. This will give the sauce time to caramelize.
  • When everything is finished cooking, serve it up with some sides and enjoy your western-style BBQ!
