My Experience for Other People’s Pets by R.L. Maizes

Lloyd Kaufman

When I was a kid, my parents always said I should never pet other people’s pets. But when R.L. Maizes‘s new book Other People’s Pets came out, I knew I had to break the rules.

I couldn’t resist the charm of this collection of short stories about animals, and their owners. The stories were funny, touching and above all, full of heart.

One of my favorite stories was about a woman whose cat runs away every time she tries to take him home from the vet. Another story was about an older couple who adopts a puppy they can’t handle and have to give it away after only a few days.

My favorite story in the book was about a dog rescue. It follows a young girl who volunteers at an animal shelter, where she meets some amazing dogs and learns valuable lessons about unconditional love and acceptance.

The stories in Other People’s Pets make you laugh, cry and appreciate the power of pet ownership. They also show us that no matter how different we are from each other, our bond with animals is something we can all share in common.

2. Some readers may find the characters to be too eccentric and off-putting
3. Plot is slow at times and can be predictable
4. Limited appeal for some readers due to its quirky nature
5. Some readers might not connect with the themes explored in the book
