My Experience for Pretty Horses (Border Trilogy Book 1)

Lloyd Kaufman

One of the most incredible stories I ever read was Pretty Horses, by Cormac McCarthy. It’s a classic Western story that follows two young cowboys, John Grady Cole and Rawlins, as they journey to Mexico in pursuit of their dreams.

I loved reading about their adventures and misadventures on their way. From riding wild horses through dangerous territory to escaping capture by the Mexican police, the boys find themselves in all sorts of trouble. But it’s not all doom and gloom; there are some really funny moments too. Take for example when John Grady and Rawlins try to buy horses from a Mexican rancher without knowing any Spanish, only to be met with hilarious results!

The book also has some great themes, like following your dreams no matter what the cost and staying true to yourself. Plus it’s written in a beautiful style that brings each scene to life.

All in all, Pretty Horses is an amazing book – one that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. If you’re looking for an enjoyable read packed with adventure, then give this book a try!

What I don’t Like

1. Some readers may find the narrative slow-paced.
2. The ending may be unsatisfying for some readers.
3. The story jumps around in time and place, which can be confusing.
4. Characters are not as developed as in other works by the author.
5. Not all of the characters’ motivations are clear.
6. The dialogue can be difficult to follow at times.
