This book is incredible. It’s about a young African-American girl named Jade who is living in poverty and struggling to find her place in the world. She feels isolated but finds solace and understanding when she meets a mentor who helps her to make sense of her life and to find her true identity.

The story is told with such realism that it really touched me. It’s funny, heartbreaking, and uplifting all at once. The characters are so well-developed that you can’t help but get invested in their lives. As I read, I could relate to Jade’s experiences and the challenges she faced – it was like looking into a mirror.
