I’m a huge fan of the movie Summerland, and I’m so happy that I bought it on Amazon! Starring Gemma Arterton, this is a beautiful coming-of-age story set in 1940s England. It follows the life of Alice (Arterton), a reclusive writer who is forced to take care of Frank, an evacuee from London during World War II. As they spend time together, Alice slowly opens up to Frank and his infectious optimism and learns to appreciate life again.

The acting by all the cast members, especially Arterton and Lucas Bond as Frank, is absolutely stunning. They bring such emotion to their characters and make you really feel for them. The cinematography of the British countryside is breathtaking as well; every frame looks like a postcard. And the score, composed by composer Tom Howe, is truly magical.
