My Experience for American Buffalo: In Search of a Lost Icon

Lloyd Kaufman

I used to be a city slicker, not knowing anything about American Buffalo. But after reading American Buffalo: In Search of a Lost Icon, I was inspired to explore the wild and find out more about these magnificent creatures.

From the book, I learned that there are two types of buffalo, wood and plains. I also discovered that the American Buffalo is an important part of Native American culture and history.

My journey began with me traveling to Yellowstone National Park, as this is one of the few places where you can actually still find wild buffalo roaming around. When I arrived, it felt like I was stepping back in time. Everywhere I looked there were huge herds of buffalo grazing in the meadows and resting beneath shady trees.

The sight was both breathtaking and humbling at the same time. It was then that I realized how important it is to protect these animals and their habitat so they can continue to thrive for generations to come.

I had a wonderful experience exploring this amazing species and learning about their importance in history and culture. So if you’re looking for adventure and to learn more about the American Buffalo, American Buffalo: In Search of a Lost Icon is the perfect place to start!

What I don’t Like

1. Limited information – The book is almost 20 years old and much of the information has become outdated.
2. Poor organization – The book’s chapters jump from one topic to another, making it difficult to follow the narrative.
3. Outdated facts – Many of the facts about buffalo mentioned in the book have been disproved by more recent scientific research.
4. Lack of visuals – There are no photographs or illustrations included in the book, making it difficult for readers to visualize what is being discussed.
5. Absence of modern perspectives – The book does not include any perspectives from Native Americans or other modern sources on the buffalo’s importance and its relationship with humans.
