My Experience for The Borrowers by Mary Norton

Lloyd Kaufman

Once upon a time, there was a family of little people living in the walls of an old English house. They were The Borrowers! My name is Pod, and me and my family (wife Homily and daughter Arrietty) are tiny enough to fit into thimbles. We live off of borrowing things from the humans above us, making sure we never take too much.

One day, while I was out on a “borrowing” mission, I stumbled across something unusual: A human boy named [Pete] had come to stay in our house! I was so surprised that I almost let out a scream. But I quickly recovered and decided to watch Pete from afar so that he wouldn’t discover our secret.

To my surprise, Pete wasn’t like other humans: He actually saw me and began talking to me! We became friends and Pete even helped me find some new materials for our home — including furniture made of matchboxes. He also brought us interesting items like marmalade jars, which we used to store some of our most precious belongings.

Our friendship with Pete changed life for us Borrowers forever. We would often have long conversations about all sorts of topics, from food preferences to what it’s like being so small. And when Pete eventually left the house, we knew that we would miss him dearly — but given all of the amazing memories we shared together, we knew he would always be part of our family.

So if you ever find yourself looking for an adventure or wondering what it’s like to be one of The Borrowers, why don’t you pick up a copy of Mary Norton’s The Borrowers? It’s a heartwarming story about friendship and courage that will leave you feeling inspired!

What I don’t Like

Product Disadvantages:
1. The story may be too slow-paced for some readers.
2. The language and writing style may be difficult for some younger readers to understand.
3. The book does not have any illustrations or other visuals to help keep readers engaged.
4. Some readers may find the moral of the story unclear and confusing at times.

How to Teach Your Kids About Being Resourceful with The Borrowers by Mary Norton

By reading The Borrowers, kids can learn valuable lessons about making do with what you have, finding creative solutions for everyday problems and understanding the importance of taking care of your belongings.
