My Experience for Fisher-Price Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar

James Mullins

I used to think learning how to code was boring and impossible. That was until I discovered the Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar from Fisher-Price! This interactive toy has transformed the way I learn about coding, making it fun and easy for me to understand.

With the Code-a-Pillar, I can create my own coding sequence by connecting eight different sections. Each section has a different function that will help direct my Code-a-Pillar in a certain direction or make it move faster or slower. As I connect the pieces together, I’m actually writing my very own code! It’s amazing how easy it is to learn this way. Plus, when I create a new code, it’s always exciting to see what kind of cool moves I can get my Code-a-Pillar to do.

The Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar also helps me develop important STEM skills, like problem solving, sequencing and critical thinking. With each new coding challenge, I’m learning more and more about how coding works.

But best of all, playing with the Code-a-Pillar is so much fun! My friends and I have competitions to see who can come up with the most creative code and then watch our Code-a-Pillars race around the room. We even have special races where we try and have our Code-a-Pillars reach specific targets first.

If you’re looking for an awesome way to learn coding, then you should definitely check out the Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar from Fisher Price!

What I don’t Like

2. Requires 3 AAA batteries that are not included
3. Limited compatibility with other products in the Think & Learn line
4. No reward system for successful programming outcomes
5. May be too difficult for younger children to understand

How to Learn Coding with Fisher-Price Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar

The Fisher-Price Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar makes it easy and fun for kids to learn coding fundamentals. This interactive toy encourages children to explore coding basics by arranging the segments of the Code-a-Pillar in different combinations. As each segment is connected, the Code-a-Pillar will move and make sounds based on the order of its segments.

To get started, arrange the eight segments in any order you choose. When you turn on your Code-a-Pillar, a light will appear on one of its segments – this indicates the starting point for your code. Then, connect up to three additional segments for a total of four commands. These four commands will determine how your Code-a-Pillar moves and what sounds it makes.

The Fisher-Price Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar comes with eight different segments including: Go Straight, Left Turn, Right Turn, U Turn, Musical Note, Speed Control, Wait and Dance. Each of these segments can be combined in various ways to create over 100 possible coding combinations!

Once you’ve arranged your Code-a-Pillar’s segments, turn it on and watch as it follows your commands! You can also customize its movements by using the free downloadable app which includes activities like mazes and more.
