My Experience for Forged by Fire

Lloyd Kaufman

I was always a little bit of a daredevil as a kid, but when I got my hands on Forged by Fire, I felt like I had taken it to the next level. It was an adrenaline rush from start to finish!

The story follows two young kids, Gerald and Angel, as they try to survive in a harsh world of foster homes and streets gangs. The action is intense, and the characters are full of courage and strength. But even more than that, the story conveys important themes about resilience, family, and friendship.

One scene in particular really sticks with me. Gerald has just been accepted by a street gang, and his friend Angel is worried for him. He decides to take part in an initiation ritual known as “Forged by Fire.” The initiation consists of walking barefoot over burning coals without flinching or crying out. Needless to say, I was on the edge of my seat.

It’s an incredible read that left me feeling inspired—and not just because of the thrill! Forged By Fire has something for everyone: adventure, heartache, and hope all rolled into one gripping novel.

What I don’t Like

1. The story line is predictable, and the characters are often two-dimensional.
2. The narrative focuses heavily on stereotypes of African American culture, which may be off-putting for some readers.
3. Despite its positive messages about overcoming obstacles, the book sometimes veers into overly simplistic solutions to complex problems.
4. The book relies heavily on dialogue, which can make it difficult to follow the plot.
5. The language is simple and straightforward, which may limit the appeal for older readers.
