My Experience for The Good House: A Novel

Lloyd Kaufman

When I first picked up The Good House: A Novel by Ann Leary, I was a bit skeptical. How could a book about a house be any good? But after reading the first few pages, I knew I had found something special!

The story follows Angela Tatedell, who inherits her grandmother’s old home in rural Connecticut. She finds that this place is full of memories and secrets, and she has to unravel them before it’s too late. As Angela discovers more about the inhabitants of “the Good House” over the years, she discovers that they all have their own stories and secrets to tell.

I was sucked into the world of the Good House right away and couldn’t put the book down. The characters are so vivid and real, you feel like you know them personally. And then there’s the house itself—it’s almost like another character in the book with its own history and secrets to tell.

One of my favorite things about The Good House is how it captures small-town life so perfectly. From the gossiping neighbors to the local diner where everybody knows your name, it really brings you back to simpler times. The writing style is also great—Ann Leary does an amazing job of making each character come alive with her words.

If you’re looking for a captivating read that will keep you turning page after page until the very end, then The Good House: A Novel is definitely worth checking out!
