My Experience with the Green Book

I recently watched Green Book, and it had me hooked right away. It was an incredible movie, full of emotion and thought-provoking themes. I loved the cast, particularly Viggo Mortensen who played the role of Tony Lip, a blue collar Italian-American bouncer.

The plot follows Tony and Dr. Don Shirley (played by Mahershala Ali) on their journey together across America in 1962. They are both from completely different worlds, but must learn to get along and even become friends in order to survive. Along the way they encounter racism, bigotry and social injustice, all of which are handled incredibly well without becoming preachy or overbearing.

The best part about Green Book is that it doesn’t sugarcoat anything. Instead it shows the raw reality of what life was like for many people during this period of history, making it much more impactful and memorable. The film also manages to be really funny, with some great one-liners that had me laughing out loud throughout!
