My Experience for Harry Haft: Auschwitz Survivor, Challenger of the Holocaust

Lloyd Kaufman

My name is Harry Haft and I am an Auschwitz survivor and challenger of the Holocaust. I was born in Poland in 1926 and raised in a Jewish family. Growing up in Europe during World War II, I experienced some of the darkest days of humanity.

I remember when the SS troops invaded my hometown and forced us into ghettos. It was there that I realized my only chance for survival was to fight back. So, I decided to join the Polish resistance movement, becoming one of their youngest members.

It wasn’t easy but I managed to survive the concentration camps and eventually joined the Allied forces in 1945. Throughout my time as a prisoner, however, I never stopped fighting for the freedom of others.

The Nazis had tried to break me with physical and psychological torture, but they couldn’t break my spirit or my will to fight back. And so it was that I became known as “Harry Haft: The Auschwitz Survivor Who Challenged The Holocaust”.

Today, I’m proud to tell my story not just as a survivor but also as a symbol of hope and resilience in the face of injustice. My book “Harry Haft: Auschwitz Survivor, Challenger Of The Holocaust” shares my journey through one of the most difficult times in history – from surviving concentration camps to joining the Allied forces – and provides an inspiring example of how we can all overcome even the darkest odds.
