I recently watched He Got Game and it completely blew me away. I didn’t know what to expect going in, but I was pleasantly surprised by the incredible performances of Denzel Washington and Ray Allen. The story is about a father (Washington) who is released from prison and must convince his son (Allen) to play college basketball for the governor’s alma mater in order to reduce his sentence.

The movie had a great soundtrack featuring some of my favorite artists from the 90s including Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, and KRS-One. Not only did the music create a great atmosphere, but it also fit perfectly with the themes of family, loyalty, and redemption that were central to the movie.

Another thing that really stood out for me was Denzel Washington’s performance as Jake Shuttlesworth. He delivers such a powerful and emotional performance that I couldn’t help but be moved by it. His character struggles throughout the film to find redemption while also trying to do right by his son. It was a powerful story of family dynamics that left me thinking long after the credits rolled.

What I don’t Like

1. The movie contains strong language and adult content.
2. The story can be slightly confusing at times.
3. Not suitable for young children due to mature themes.
4. Some viewers may find the basketball court scenes too long and repetitive.
5. The ending of the film is not as satisfying as expected.
6. Not all of Denzel Washington’s performance is consistent throughout the film.
