The book was well written, easy to understand and full of fascinating facts and stories. I also loved how it highlighted how Heyerdahl used his knowledge of science and technology to complete his daring mission. It truly was an amazing achievement!

But perhaps the best part of reading Kon-Tiki was being able to imagine what it must have been like for Heyerdahl out there on the open ocean, surrounded by nothing but endless blue water. It was such a thrilling thought that I couldn’t help but get swept up in the excitement of his remarkable journey.

I highly recommend Kon-Tiki as a great read for anyone who loves adventure stories or is interested in learning more about maritime exploration. You won’t regret picking up this book!

What I don’t Like

1. Lack of scientific evidence: Although Kon-Tiki is an interesting story, it lacks scientific evidence to support its theories.
2. Limited geographical scope: The expedition only covers a limited geographical range, making it difficult to draw conclusions about the origin and migration of Polynesian peoples.
3. Narrative structure: The narrative structure of the book can be confusing for some readers as it often jumps back and forth between the past and present.
4. Inaccurate cultural references: The book contains numerous inaccuracies regarding the culture and customs of Polynesian people which could lead to confusion for some readers.
5. Lack of detail: While the book provides an overview of Thor Heyerdahl’s journey, there is little detail about his research methods or other aspects of the expedition.

How to Sail Across the Pacific Ocean Like Thor Heyerdahl

Do you dream of crossing the Pacific Ocean on your own raft, just like Thor Heyerdahl did with Kon-Tiki? Well, it’s not impossible! You can recreate this amazing feat by following a few simple steps.

First and foremost, you will need to build your own raft. Thor Heyerdahl used nine bamboo logs, tied together with rope and equipped with a small sail made of cloth. The book Kon-Tiki has detailed instructions on how to construct such a vessel.

Once your raft is ready, you should stock up on supplies for the journey. Be sure to bring plenty of food and water, as well as navigational tools such as a compass and a sextant. It is also recommended that you bring along a first aid kit and some spare parts in case something breaks down.

Once you are out at sea, make sure to monitor the weather conditions regularly and adjust your course accordingly. Also, keep an eye out for shipping traffic in order to avoid collisions. With proper preparation and careful navigation, you can follow in Thor Heyerdahl’s footsteps and complete the incredible voyage across the Pacific Ocean!
