When I first heard about Kung Fu Hustle (Widescreen Edition), I was sure it would be a movie worth watching. Little did I know how much of a cult classic this film would become! From its hilarious characters to its heart-stopping action scenes, it’s no wonder why this movie has gained such a following.

The story follows Sing (Stephen Chow), a wannabe gangster who dreams of being one of the coolest guys on the block. He and his sidekick Bone (Lam Tze-chung) try to join the notorious Axe Gang, only to find themselves in way over their heads. With the help of two landlords, they must fight off dozens of kung fu masters and the powerful members of the Axe Gang.

The action is fast-paced and thrilling, but there is also plenty of humor that keeps things lighthearted. The special effects are impressive, especially during some of the larger fight scenes. Stephen Chow’s direction and performance are both perfect for the role; his character’s intense journey from bumbling idiot to master kung fu warrior is truly inspiring.

What I don’t Like

1. Poorly translated subtitles
2. Lack of bonus features on the disc
3. The video transfer is a bit grainy at times
4. Audio is not as crisp as other versions of the movie
5. Scenes involving CGI effects look dated
