My Experience for Lon Po-Po: A Red-Riding Hood Story from China

Lloyd Kaufman

Once upon a time there was a little girl who lived in the Chinese countryside with her beloved grandmother. Her grandmother had always been very protective of her and was especially careful to warn her about the dangers of straying too far from home. But one day, while gathering firewood, the little girl stumbled upon a mysterious cave that she just had to explore.

Little did she know that inside this cave lurked a ferocious beast known as Lon Po-Po – the old wolf! He had been living in the cave for years and was determined to make the little girl his next meal.

The brave little girl soon found herself face-to-face with the fierce creature. She tried to run away but Lon Po-Po was too quick for her and he quickly sprang forward and grabbed her. The poor little girl was terrified!

But luckily, she had managed to grab onto a magical red cape on her way into the cave. This cape gave her the courage and strength she needed to fight back against Lon Po-Po and eventually defeat him. With her newfound strength, she managed to set herself free and escape from the evil wolf’s clutches. From then on, she wore the red cape proudly wherever she went, as a reminder of her bravery!
