My Experience for Moxie

Lloyd Kaufman

I first heard about Moxie when my best friend, Vivian, told me about it. I had no idea what it was but I was intrigued by the title – and when she explained it to me, I knew I had to check it out for myself.

When I finally read Moxie, I couldn’t believe how amazing it was. It’s a story of a girl named Vivian who stands up to her high school’s sexist status quo with an underground feminist revolution. She fights for equality and justice in a way that is both inspiring and refreshing.

What really made me love the book is how relatable the characters are. Vivian’s struggles feel so real, and her friendships with other girls is something that any reader can relate to. And even though this book takes place in high school, so many of its themes are applicable to adults as well.

At its core, Moxie is a story about creating real change in our world through small actions and having the courage to stand up for what we believe in. It’s an uplifting story that will have you cheering for its heroines every step of the way!

What I don’t Like

1. The story is told in a slow pace, which can be off-putting to some readers.
2. Some of the characters are not fully explored, leaving readers feeling incompletely informed about them.
3. The plot can be confusing and hard to follow at times.
4. The ending is left open-ended, so it’s not entirely satisfying for some readers.
5. The language used can be quite mature, which may not be suitable for younger readers.

How to Unleash Your Inner Strength with Moxie

Vivian Carter is a high school student who isn’t afraid to fight for what she believes in. In Jennifer Mathieu’s novel Moxie, Vivian creates an underground feminist zine called “Moxie” to allow her and other girls at East Rockport High School to stand up against the sexist and toxic culture they’re living in.

By reading Moxie, you can learn how to take action against a society that wants you to be silent and powerless. Vivian shows us that we don’t have to wait for permission or acceptance before we can make a difference. Through her strength, courage, and determination, Vivian helps others find their own inner moxie. Here are some steps you can follow in order to unleash your own inner strength:

1. Identify Your Values

The first step of finding your inner moxie is knowing what you stand for and identifying the values that are important to you. Take the time to think about what matters most in life and what beliefs you want to uphold no matter what. Be honest with yourself about these values and allow yourself the space to explore different perspectives.

2. Speak Up

Once you’ve identified your values, it’s time to start speaking up when those values are threatened or disregarded. Don’t be afraid to let people know when something doesn’t sit right with you, particularly if it goes against your core beliefs. Speaking up will help ensure that your voice is heard instead of staying silent on issues that matter most to you.

3. Use Your Platform

You don’t need a huge platform or followers in order to make a difference; all it takes is a small act of bravery and the willingness to use whatever resources you have available. Whether it’s writing letters, blogging, creating art, or using social media, there are numerous ways in which you can share your message with the world. Find the platform that works best for you and use it as an outlet for change!

4. Embrace Support

Having support from friends, family members, and even strangers is essential when trying to find your inner moxie. Accepting help from others can give you the courage and motivation needed to reach your goals and make a real impact in your community. Remember that everyone faces struggles, so don’t be afraid to ask for help when things get tough!

Just like Vivian did in Moxie, we can all learn how to take our power back by standing up for our values and using our platforms for good. With these four steps, you’ll be well on your way towards unleashing your inner strength and making a difference!
