My Experience for The Nativity Story by Geraldine McCaughrean

Lloyd Kaufman

Once upon a time, there was a young couple who were expecting their first baby. They traveled far and wide to find a place to stay and celebrate the birth of their little one. On their journey, they encountered many obstacles, but with courage and faith, they eventually arrived in Bethlehem.

As the couple entered the city, they saw all the hustle and bustle of people preparing for the celebration of Jesus’s birth. Everywhere you looked, people were decorating and singing songs of joy and thanksgiving.

The couple finally found a place to stay at the Nativity Story, an inn run by a kind-hearted woman named Mary. She welcomed them with open arms and offered them shelter for the night.

Inside the Nativity Story, Mary showed them to a small stable where they could rest until morning. It wasn’t much, but it was enough for the tired travelers.

That night, while they rested in the stable, something miraculous happened – Jesus was born! The angels sang out in joy and soon everyone in Bethlehem knew that something special had happened.

The couple thanked Mary for her hospitality and then shared the news of Jesus’s birth with all those around them. With gratitude in their hearts, they made their way back home knowing that this special day would be remembered forever – thanks to The Nativity Story.

What I don’t Like

1. Story is simplified and not as detailed or complex as other nativity stories.
2. The language used is simplistic, with many words repeated throughout the book.
3. Some of the illustrations are not as eye-catching as they could be, making it less appealing to younger readers.
4. Not enough attention has been paid to the minor characters in the story, making them seem less important than the main characters.
5. The storyline does not delve deeply into the religious aspects of the nativity story and may make it difficult for readers to understand certain elements of the narrative.
