My Experience for One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia

I was so excited when I got my hands on One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia. It promised to be a wild ride, with plenty of adventure, humor and drama. And it sure delivered!

The story follows the three Gaither sisters – Delphine, Vonetta and Fern – as they travel from their home in Brooklyn to Oakland, California, to meet their mother for the first time. Along the way, they face all kinds of challenges: from learning how to connect with each other, to dealing with racism and prejudice, to facing down some tough odds.

But that’s not all that One Crazy Summer has to offer. It’s full of hilariously funny moments too. One of my favorite parts is when the sisters find themselves in a strange town, trying to find a place to stay for the night. Despite their best efforts, everything seems to be closed… until they stumble upon an old carnival tent that’s been converted into a hostel. The scene is so wacky and unexpected, it had me laughing out loud!

Of course, there are plenty of serious moments as well. But what really shines through in this book is its heartwarming message about family and perseverance. It’s truly an inspiring read – one that I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a great summer read!
