As an avid reader, I’m always on the lookout for amazing stories that captivate me and make me think deeply. This book did exactly that! The story follows a young Cambodian woman named Sang Ly as she struggles to survive in a slum while her husband is away at war. She has to do whatever it takes to provide for her family, including collecting rent from her neighbors, bartering goods, and scavenging through the garbage dump.

The remarkable thing about this book is how it so realistically portrays the struggles of poor people in developing countries like Cambodia. It made me think long and hard about what it’s like for these people and how much more privileged we are in America.

Another thing I absolutely loved about this book was its vivid descriptions of the characters and their lives. It’s almost like you can feel the pain and desperation they are going through. I found myself rooting for Sang Ly throughout the entire book, hoping that she and her family would find a way out of poverty.

Overall, “The Rent Collector” was one of the most thought-provoking books I’ve ever read. If you’re looking for a unique story with intense emotions, then this is definitely one worth checking out!

What I don’t Like

2. Some readers find the characters unrelatable and have difficulty connecting with them emotionally.
3. The plot is quite predictable, so some readers may find the book to be a bit unoriginal.
4. There are several moments of intense violence and graphic scenes, which could be distressing for some readers.
5. The ending of the book does not provide a full resolution to all of the story’s questions and conflicts, which can leave readers feeling unsatisfied.
