How to Create a Cinematic Masterpiece with The Revenant

The Revenant is an incredible cinematic masterpiece, created by Paul Anderson and winning 3 Academy Awards. It’s a must-have for any movie buff or aspiring filmmaker looking to shoot something truly special. Here’s how to make your own The Revenant-style masterpiece.

Step One: Get Your Story Ready

The most important part of making a movie like The Revenant is having a good story. Take some time to plan out your narrative, the characters and the plot. When you’re ready, write out a script so you can move on to the next step.

Step Two: Find Your Location

The Revenant was filmed in remote parts of Canada and Argentina, giving it an incredibly unique look and feel. To capture that same atmosphere, find somewhere remote and beautiful as your filming location – perhaps a mountain range or a desolate beach.

Step Three: Choose Your Equipment

Once you’ve got your story and location set up, it’s time to pick the right equipment for the job. Cameras are obviously important; The Revenant was shot on a Red Epic camera using Panavision Primo lenses. It may be worth investing in similarly high-end gear for stunning results.

Step Four: Start Filming!

Now you’re ready to start shooting! Make sure you have all the necessary permits if filming in public areas, then get out there and start capturing scenes from your script. You may want to consider hiring some actors for more complex shots; take inspiration from The Revenant’s incredible cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson!

Step Five: Edit Your Film

Once you’ve finished shooting, it’s time to edit your footage into something watchable. Investing in some editing software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro) will help you create the perfect cinematic masterpiece, inspired by The Revenant’s stunning visuals and captivating story. With these five steps, you’ll be able to create something truly magical.
