My life was a monotonous routine. Wake up, go to work, come home, watch TV and go to bed. Same old, same old. Until one day, I stumbled across Severance, a novel by Ling Ma. It wasn’t like anything I had ever read before. It was an apocalyptic tale of survival in a post-apocalyptic world filled with walking corpses and mysterious diseases. But it also contained so much more than that – Severance is about the human experience, about finding purpose in the face of uncertainty, and ultimately about finding hope in the face of despair. I found myself drawn into the story, captivated by its characters and the surreal yet real situations they faced. I laughed at their jokes, cried at their losses, and felt moved by their triumphs over adversity. It felt like I was living through every page as if I was there alongside them. With every turn of the page I found myself becoming more invested in Severance. I thought about it constantly throughout my days, eagerly awaiting each night when I could pick up where I left off and escape into this strange new world.
