He looks at everything from economic inequality to education disparities, to health care access issues and more. What I don’t Like

1. Limited Sources: This book relies heavily on research from the United States and Canada, so readers from other countries may not be able to relate to some of its conclusions.

2. Lack of Broadened Perspective: While the authors provide a comprehensive overview of the history and current state of racism in America, they do not offer any solutions or ideas for how to move forward.

3. Overly Simplistic Solutions: The authors provide some simple solutions to address racism, but these are not necessarily grounded in reality or backed up with evidence.

4. Difficult To Follow Logic: The authors use complex terms and language which can be difficult to follow at times, making it hard for readers to make sense of their arguments.

5. Focuses On Specific Groups: While the authors attempt to draw connections between different groups, they do not offer a broad enough perspective to really understand the full scope of racism in society today.

How to Overcome Racism and Create a More Inclusive World

In The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together, authors Heather McGhee and Adam Serwer offer a compelling argument for how we can work together to overcome racism and create a more inclusive world. By examining the economic, social, and political costs of racism, McGhee and Serwer provide an in-depth look at the ways in which racism creates disparities between communities of different racial backgrounds. Through stories from individuals who have experienced racism firsthand, as well as powerful research and data, they show how racism has been used to divide us—and how it can be used to bring us closer together.

The authors also provide practical solutions for overcoming racism and creating a more equitable society. They suggest developing policies that promote equal access to education, healthcare, jobs, housing, and other critical resources; establishing programs that foster understanding between diverse communities; and investing in organizations that seek to reduce racial inequality. Additionally, they emphasize the importance of engaging in conversations about race—such as those related to police brutality or immigration—in order to build bridges across cultural divides.

Finally, McGhee and Serwer remind us that while there is still much work to be done when it comes to achieving racial justice and equity, we can all do our part by recognizing our own privilege or bias, listening with an open mind, standing up for what’s right, and working together towards a better future for all.
