Carol DVD (2015): Captivating Drama Starring Cate Blanchett
The 2015 drama Carol is a beautiful and heart-warming story about two women in love, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. This film is directed by Todd Haynes and based on the novel The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith. From the very first frame of this movie, you can tell that it is something special – the cinematography, acting and storytelling are all excellent. Every scene feels incredibly intimate and thoughtful, allowing for a slow but rewarding journey through the emotions of its characters.
The performances from both Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara are outstanding, with each actor managing to bring a deep level of emotion to their respective roles. Blanchett’s Carol Aird is dignified yet vulnerable while Mara’s Therese Belivet is strong-willed yet fragile; their chemistry is wonderful to watch as they explore their feelings for each other in a society that was not ready to accept such a relationship.
The music score by Carter Burwell also adds an extra layer of emotion to the film, perfectly capturing the bittersweetness of Carol and Therese’s romance. While there are some difficult moments throughout the movie (and several heartbreaking ones too), there is also an underlying thread of hope that never fades away. As you watch these two characters fight for their love against all odds, it’s impossible not to be moved by their courage and strength.
