Dallas Buyers Club Review – Matthew McConaughey at his Best!
Dallas Buyers Club is one of those movies that will stay with you long after the credits roll. Starring Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, this movie tells the story of Ron Woodruff, an electrician who finds himself diagnosed with HIV in 1985 Dallas. With limited options for treatment, Ron takes matters into his own hands and starts a “buyers club” to provide others like him with access to alternative medications.
The performances from both leads are outstanding, but it’s McConaughey who stands out most as he delivers an electrifying performance as the foul-mouthed, hard-living Ron. His character undergoes an incredible transformation throughout the course of the film and we watch him go from a seemingly hopeless state of mind to finding purpose and hope in helping others. The supporting cast is also strong, particularly Jennifer Garner, who plays Ron’s doctor and helps provide a more compassionate side to his story.
The production design is excellent and every frame of this movie looks great. The editing is also top-notch, creating a very immersive experience that keeps you engaged all the way through. In terms of cinematography, there are some really beautiful shots that capture the time period perfectly.
Overall, Dallas Buyers Club is a powerful drama that addresses important themes such as courage and hope in difficult times. It’s a must-watch for fans of Matthew McConaughey or anyone looking for an emotional journey full of heartache but ultimately hope. In addition to its great performances and production design, it brings up important questions about health care that still resonate today.
