  • Gather the ingredients. You will need 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and 3/4 cup of warm water.
  • Mix the dry ingredients. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder until everything is evenly distributed.
  • Add the oil. Pour in the vegetable oil and mix it into the dry ingredients using your hands or a spoon.
  • Add the water. Slowly pour in the warm water while stirring continuously until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for 5 minutes or so until it becomes smooth.
  • Cover and let rise. Place the dough back into the bowl and cover it with a damp towel. Let it sit for 30 minutes to allow it to rise.
  • Divide into balls. Once the dough has risen, divide it into 12 equal pieces and roll them into balls.
  • Roll out each ball. Take one of the dough balls at a time and roll it out using a rolling pin until it is about 8 inches wide.
  • Cook in skillet. Heat up a greased skillet over medium heat and place the rolled out tortilla in it for about 45 seconds on each side.
