My Experience for Trumpty Dumpty Wanted a Crown: A Despotic Fairy Tale

Lloyd Kaufman

Once upon a time, there lived a king named Trumpty Dumpty. He was an arrogant and powerful ruler who loved to show off his wealth. One day, he decided that he wanted something special to wear on his head – a crown!

So, Trumpty Dumpty went to the jeweler, but none of the crowns in the shop were good enough for him. He demanded something more elaborate and grand. His demands were so great that the jeweler could not meet them.

Frustrated, Trumpty Dumpty searched everywhere but couldn’t find a crown that would be worthy of his immense power. Finally, in desperation, he decided to build his own. But how?

He didn’t know where to begin! That’s when he remembered hearing about a magical creature who could grant wishes—the Fairy Godmother! So, with high hopes and dreams of wearing an exquisite crown, he set out on his quest to find her.

He traveled far and wide until finally, after many weeks of searching, he stumbled upon her door. Trumpty Dumpty knocked nervously and waited with anticipation for her answer. When she opened the door, she saw a little man with a large dream—to have a crown fit for a king. She smiled at him and said “Your wish is my command!”

The Fairy Godmother waved her wand and suddenly Trumpty Dumpty was adorned with the most beautiful crown anyone had ever seen! He was thrilled beyond belief! The Fairy Godmother gave him one last warning before leaving: “Take care of your crown or else it will vanish forever”.

And so it went: Trumpty Dumpty wore his majestic crown proudly wherever he went and it never left his side. It was as if this grandiose symbol of power had been made just for him!

2. The story line may not be suitable for young readers.
3. The illustrations are simple and lack detail.
4. Some of the themes explored can be controversial.
