As a fan of vampires, I was very excited when I heard about What We Do in the Shadows. From the trailers, it looked like an hilarious take on vampire movies and I just knew that I had to watch it.

And boy, was I right! This movie is amazing. It follows a group of vampires living together in an old house in modern-day Wellington, New Zealand. There’s Viago (Taika Waititi), a 379-year-old dandy; Deacon (Jonathan Brugh), an 862-year-old brash young bloodsucker; Vladislav (Jemaine Clement), a 10,000-year-old vampire with no sense of personal space; and Petyr (Ben Fransham), an 8,000-year-old “nosferatu” who never leaves his coffin.

The four vampires struggle to keep up with the times and fit in with human society while still dealing with their own vampiric issues such as finding fresh blood and avoiding sunlight. But they soon find themselves facing bigger problems when their ancient enemy – the werewolves – come knocking at their door.

What We Do in the Shadows is a brilliant balance of dark humor and horror that will leave you laughing out loud one minute and gasping in shock the next.
