My Experience for Wish

Lloyd Kaufman

I just recently finished reading Wish by Barbara O’Connor and I absolutely loved it! It’s a great book for kids and adults alike.

The story follows Charlie, an 11-year-old who is struggling to adjust to her family’s recent move. For Charlie, things can’t seem to get any worse until she meets Wishbone, an old hound dog with a broken spirit. With the help of Wishbone, Charlie begins to realize that with a little bit of hope and courage, she can make her wish come true.

What I really enjoyed about Wish was how relatable Charlie is. Her struggles with loneliness, insecurity, and homesickness were something that I think many readers can relate to in one way or another. She also learns valuable lessons about friendship, resilience, and finding strength in difficult times.

Overall, Wish is a touching story about staying hopeful even when life throws you curveballs. I definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for an inspiring read that will leave you feeling uplifted!

3. There is not enough character development to create an emotional connection with the reader.
4. The plot may be too confusing for younger audiences as it jumps from one point in time to another.
5. The book does not contain any illustrations or images that would help explain the storyline or characters better.

How to Overcome Fear with Wish by Barbara O’Connor

Do you ever wish for something so badly that you can almost touch it? In her book Wish, Barbara O’Connor tells the story of a young girl named Charlie Reese who faces her biggest fears and discovers that wishing can make impossible dreams come true.

Charlie is an 11-year-old girl dealing with the big changes in her life after moving from Atlanta to a small town in North Carolina. She finds solace in the mountains where she goes to make wishes on shooting stars. With each wish, Charlie begins to realize that maybe her wishes can help her tackle her biggest fears—like making friends, fitting in at school, and standing up to bullies.

In Wish, O’Connor shows how fear is natural but also how it can be overcome with courage and strength. Here are a few tips on how you can overcome your fears just like Charlie did:

1. Acknowledge Your Fear: Recognize that what you’re feeling is fear and identify what’s causing it. The more aware you are of your feelings and why they exist, the better equipped you’ll be to handle them.

2. Face Your Fear: Take small steps towards facing whatever it is that scares you. Build up your confidence by starting small and gradually working your way up as your courage increases.

3. Reach Out for Support: No one has to face their fears alone! Talking about your worries with someone else who understands can help reassures you that you’re not alone and provide valuable insight into how to cope with the situation at hand.
